El Chiringuito
The very best all around great spot to meet friends or make new ones. Come for fair priced drinks, great food and a delightful sunset every night. Although there is a smoky old wood and rustic marine feel to the furniture and accent pieces; that is completely contradicted with the lively upbeat tunes that will have you grooving in your seat. This is a place you can come to knowing that the dynamic staff is across the board very accommodating and professional no matter who you get serving you the team runs like a well oiled machine all the parts are happy and operate smoothly no matter how busy. Lets talk about the food; my goodness if catch a waft out of the kitchen of sweet creamy garlic and wine – it’s the mussels; they are a must have, great for sharing or have them yourself if you want to. This is also the home of the best salad in town and I say that as a non salad lover; the Chiringuito salad with bits of apple and cranberry, and big chunks of chicken covered in and a zesty citrus tang has me coming back again and again. This place has been a favorite for expats and vacationers alike for years and has truly stood the test of time. They care about their customers and it shows in the spirit of this gem of a spot, right on the beach beside the fish market and the best parking in town where the boats launch from. Check it out and if you’re really lucky you might get to be entertained by Fatiniza the Columbian sweetheart of Tamarindo that not only belts out her gorgeous voice but is the heart beat of the town itself. Happy hour is a little bit happier here, do come give it a taste.
La Palapa
Whether or not you have something special to celebrate, this is the spot to share with someone that you want to have an especially great time with. They pride themselves with great service and the food, oh my the food… this is why we are here! Definitely have the filet with either the pepper sauce or the gorgonzola sauce both are a dazzling taste delight. And if you think the beach setting ocean view and sunset are enough, prepare to be truly amazed by the world famous fire dancers. It’ll be a night to remember and you will not be able to resist grabbing your phone for a picture because they will truly amaze you.
El Mercadito
Right in the center of town you will find the most reasonable priced and completely diverse dining experience; it is a market of food venders that offer your group enough options that even your pickiest eaters will find something yummy they love. Pizzas, crepes, burgers, poke, ice cream they have most everything. There is a big boat sunk into the ground that serves as a bar if you fancy a drink. There is a small play structure for children to use and stay occupied. I have to mention my personal favorite here, it’s Asian Fusion the best sushi in town in my opinion and if you like sushi or don’t you should try the thunder roll – it’s perfectly tasty, healthy and leaves you feeling fed without the extra weight. I personally cannot get enough of this place.
